Organic Synthesis

Organic synthesis focuses on: 1) the design and retro synthesis of structurally interesting and significantly bioactive natural product compounds, 2) structural modification of bioactive/non-bioactive natural product compounds isolated from plants and 3) the structure activity studies of the synthesized and naturally isolated natural product compounds. The important application includes determination of the biological activities in vitro and structure activity relationships of the synthesized/isolated compounds using computational studies.

Research Highlights
The Organic Synthesis research will result in the discovery/development of new efficient synthetic methodologies, improved approaches on the existing synthesis route of complex challenging molecules as well as synthesis of new/novel molecules. Generally, the synthetic targets involve synthesis/isolation of novel lead compounds as prototypes for drug discovery. Journal publications and patents on new methods and new lead compounds are tangible outputs.
