The Postgraduate Programme in the Department of Physics is offered through two modes, the research and the coursework. For the programmy by research, two programmes are offered namely Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy. For the programme by coursework, one programme is offered which is Master of Materials Physics.
PROGRAMME BY RESEARCH : MASTER OF SCIENCE DAN DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY
The Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy program in the Department of Physics is designed to provide candidates with a solid background in the field of basic science with courses and conducting in-depth studies in specific research problems, especially based on Physics. The minimum credit requirement for the Master of Science program is 9 while for the Doctor of Philosophy program it is 12. Candidates for the Master of Science or Doctor of Philosophy degrees must take a research course under the direct supervision of academic staff in the Department. The candidate must present a thesis on a relevant topic in the field of study where it should include original research results and contribute to the research field at a high level.

PROGRAMME BY COURSEWORK: MASTER OF MATERIALS PHYSICS
The Master of Materials Physics is the first Master of Science course offered by the Department of Physics starting Semester 1 2021/2022. The Master of Materials Physics is a coursework-based graduate program with 40 credits including 6 dissertation credits (3 credits for each semester). The objective of this program is to produce graduates who are knowledgeable and skilled in materials physics. This program offers opportunities for further study and career development in related fields. Teaching and learning is based on conventional and modern approaches including lectures, tutorials, practical work, projects and assignments, case studies, seminars, critical reviews and dissertations. Students can complete this program with a minimum of 2 semesters and a maximum of 6 semesters. Teaching and learning activities are carried out on weekends or weekday evenings for the convenience of those who have work commitments.
