Electrochemistry is the study of relationship between electron flow and redox reaction at various interfaces. Understanding of electrochemical processes and electrochemical properties is essential in the fundamental studies and development of electrochemical sensors, energy storage, corrosion prevention etc. Modern developments in molecular biology stress the electrochemical basis of many natural processes. Knowledge in electrochemistry is also relevant to the advancement in nanotechnology research. The thrust of research in electrochemistry is focused on several important areas such as electroanalysis, electrochemical characterization, photoelectrochemistry and electrosynthesis of chemical species of interest. Within the area of electroanalysis, the modification of electrodes are based on composite of micro-/nano-metal/metal oxides such as (C60), carbon nanotubes (CNT), MgB2, graphene, TiO2, nanowires and other polymeric materials for detection of many important chemical species. The preparation of biosensor including DNA and chiral biosensors are of recent focus as well.
