SERDANG - The 3rd Malaysian Metal-Organic Frameworks (MyMOF3) workshop part on the inaugural Monsoon School organised by Foundry of Reticular Materials for Sustainability (FORMS) was successfully held from the 14th-17th November 2022. FORMS which is based at the Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ION2) and Faculty of Science (FS) was created to spearhead translational research of MOFs in Malaysia by research networking between Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) and University of California, Berkeley (UCB). The workshop was conducted at ION2 and Faculty of Science, UPM with participants from UM, USM, UTM and UPM. This workshop is a continuation from the two previous workshops which was first held in 2017 and later in 2018. The intensive full-day workshop was conducted by Mr. Kyle E. Cordova (Royal Scientific Society, Jordan), Dr. Felipe Gandara (Materials Science Institute of Madrid) and Dr. Muhammad Alif Mohammad Latif (UPM). The participants were exposed to reticular chemistry: its synthesis, characterisation, and applications specifically to metal-organic frameworks. The introduction to MOF computational chemistry was also given to provide more tools in understanding the working of MOF structures. This workshop was organised in partnership with Persatuan Sains Analisis Malaysia, Berkeley Global Science Institute, Royal Scientific Society, Jordan and Materials Science Institute of Madrid.
