Serdang, 22 July 2025 – A team of three students from the Department of Mathematics and Statistics (JMS), Faculty of Science, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) achieved an impressive feat by securing third place overall in the Data Challenge 4.0 organized by Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM).

The team, comprising Jess Ho Jia Qian, Then Yick Jing, and Tacia Tai Dien Rui, demonstrated remarkable improvement by climbing from the 11th position in the preliminary round to 3rd place in the finals.

Their outstanding performance also earned them two special awards:

• 🏆 Best Innovative Idea

• 🏆 Best Pitching

Data Challenge 4.0 is a platform that tests students' skills in data analytics, real-world problem solving, and impactful presentation of ideas. This achievement highlights the strong analytical capabilities and competitive edge of JMS students at the national level.
