Serdang, 21 May 2025 – Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) continues to strengthen its strategic ties with the industry as a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was successfully signed with Pfizer (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. in a ceremony held at the Bilik Saintis Gemilang, Faculty of Science, UPM.

The event was graced by the presence of UPM Vice-Chancellor, YBhg. Dato’ Prof. Ir. Dr. Ahmad Farhan Mohd Sadullah, and Madam Deborah Seifert, Cluster Lead for Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, and the Philippines at Pfizer. It marked a meaningful collaboration aimed at advancing research and innovation in science and community development.

In his speech, the Vice-Chancellor emphasised the importance of collaboration between higher education institutions and industry as a catalyst for knowledge advancement, world-class research, and the development of competitive human capital. Pfizer’s representative also reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting the nation’s efforts in education and research—particularly in the fields of science, student development and industrial training, cross-border social responsibility (CSR), and digital health literacy.

The event proceeded with the exchange of MoU documents, followed by a symbolic ceremony that included the placement of the industry partner’s logo, plaque signing, and exchange of souvenirs as tokens of appreciation and to commemorate the official collaboration between the two parties.

Following the MoU ceremony, guests were invited to a Hi-Tea with Alumni and Industry Partners in celebration of the Faculty of Science's Golden Jubilee, held at the Foyer of Block A1, Faculty of Science. This casual yet meaningful gathering brought together alumni and industry collaborators to honour the achievements and 50-year legacy of the Faculty in academia and research.

The Dean of the Faculty of Science, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nor Azwady Abd. Aziz, in his speech, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all alumni and industry partners for their continued support. The Vice-Chancellor also delivered a second address during this session, highlighting the critical role of alumni and industry networks as pillars of the university’s strength.

The event featured a variety of engaging activities including experience-sharing sessions by alumni, the announcement of the winners of the Golden Jubilee short video competition, and a group photo session to commemorate the occasion.

With the spirit of “Inspiring Generations,” the Faculty of Science UPM strides confidently into the next decade, committed to furthering academic and research excellence while shaping a future generation of scientists ready to compete on a global stage.
