A total of 88 students and 8 lecturers from the Department of Physics, Faculty of Science, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) attended the Selangor Smart City & Digital Economy (SDEC) 2024 programme, which took place at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) on 16-17 October 2024. This programme was organised by Ai Nusantara in collaboration with the Selangor Information Technology & Digital Economy Corporation (SIDEC), and successfully attracted participants’ interest in various topics related to semiconductors and artificial intelligence (AI).

Through this programme, postgraduate students and final-year undergraduate students from the Bachelor of Science in Physics (Honours), Bachelor of Science in Material Physics (Honours), and Bachelor of Science in Instrumentation Physics (Honours) programmes gained deeper insights into semiconductor technology, which is rapidly advancing in the global industry. This provided students with an opportunity to understand the role of AI in empowering semiconductor technology and the impact of this innovation on various economic and social sectors.

Additionally, the programme served as an effective platform for strengthening relationships between industry and academia. UPM students and lecturers had the opportunity to interact with industry representatives, technology experts, and experienced entrepreneurs. This not only opened doors to potential collaboration in research and development (R&D) but also inspired students to continue advancing in this high-potential field.

A heartfelt thank you is extended to Ai Nusantara for sponsoring and providing UPM students with the opportunity to explore the field of artificial intelligence in semiconductors. This invaluable experience will undoubtedly greatly benefit them in facing the challenges of the workforce and contributing to the technological advancement of the nation in the future.
