Physiology deals with a cross-disciplinary research and includes different levels of investigations in order to seek understanding of biological functions spanning the range from molecular mechanisms to the adaptation of organisms in the environment. Researchers in the Department of Biology are focused on understanding the relation and impact of different environmental factors towards animals and plant physiology. Our research approaches involve diverse areas in fundamental and applied physiology by utilizing various models ranging from the cellular level to behavioral level. We have experts in environmental physiology, vertebrate physiology, aquatic toxicology, neurotoxicology, heavy metal metabolism, biofuels, water and soil remediation and crop enhancement. Studies on the adaptation of animals and plants to environmental changes, pollutants and stress conditions have high relevance for human and environmental health. Collectively, with different expertise and graduate courses available, we offer an exciting and rewarding experience for the postgraduates in the Department.
