Serdang, 2^nd April 2024 - The Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) has organized a program, namely Sharing Session: Research Sabbatical in Europe and Asia, to share the experiences and knowledge gained by two researchers from the department, Prof. Dr. Irmawati Ramli and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Siti Munirah Mohd Faudzi, during their sabbatical at Cardiff University, United Kingdom, and Chungnam National University, South Korea.

This sharing session highlights the research conducted with the international researchers at the selected universities. Prof. Dr. Irmawati particularly focused on researching the synthesis of glycerol and derivatives using catalysts to produce sustainable chemicals during her sabbatical in 2017. In the meantime, Dr. Siti Munirah worked in South Korea on the discovery and development of drugs using zebrafish. As a result of this sabbatical, these two UPM researchers have successfully published their research results in several international journals.

For information, the sharing session is mandatory for UPM employees after the end of the sabbatical, in accordance with the requirements of the Registrar. Researchers, staff as well as undergraduate and postgraduate students from the Department of Chemistry UPM,participated in this program. The program lasted from 10 am to 11:30 am and was well received by the participants.
