Putrajaya, 30 Sept - The Department of Mathematics and Statistics, Faculty of Science, UPM, in collaboration with Maths ProofRead, successfully organized the 5th International Conference on Mathematical Sciences and Statistics (ICMSS2024) on September 24 – 25, 2024, at Palm Garden Hotel, Putrajaya.

The opening ceremony of ICMSS2024, held on September 24, 2024, was officiated by the Chair of the Dean's Committee, Universiti Putra Malaysia, YBhg. Prof. Dr. Bany Ariffin Amin Noordin, in the presence of invited guests, including heads of departments from the Faculty of Science, members of the Faculty Management Committee, the director of INSPEM, YBhg. Prof. Ir. Dr. Aduwati Sali, YBhg. Prof. Ts. Dr. Aida Mustapha as the keynote speaker, representatives from the Malaysian Institute of Statistics (ISMy), YBhg. Prof. Dr. Habshah Midi, and representatives from the Management Science/Operations Research Society of Malaysia (MSORSM), Dr. Ruzana Ishak. The closing ceremony of ICMSS2024 was successfully officiated by the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Science, UPM, Prof. Madya Dr. Khamirul Amin Matori, on September 25, 2024.

A total of ten presenters were selected as recipients of the Best Presenter Award at this event. The conference aimed to strengthen research activities among UPM researchers and researchers from external institutions/agencies and was attended by 91 participants, including 62 presenters. The organizers also invited YBhg. Prof. Dr. Sharidan Shafie, YBhg. Prof. Dr. Shakir Ali, and Ts. Ahmad Hadzramin Abdul Rahman as plenary speakers, along with Prof. Madya Dr. Zamira Hasanah Zamzuri, Prof. Madya Dr. Nurnadiah Zamri, and Prof. Madya Dr. Gaurav Gupta as invited speakers.
