Benchmarking Visit Program of the Department of Chemistry from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia

Serdang, September 11, 2024 - The Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science UPM warmly welcomed a one-day benchmarking visit related to the academic program of the Department from the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM).

This visit was led by Associate Professor ChM. Dr. Joazaizulfazli Jamalis, Head of the Department of Chemistry UTM, and attended by 16 other officials consisting of heads of fields, lecturers, and scientific officers. The purpose of the visit was to gather information regarding the academic programs of the Department, laboratory support systems, student mobility activities, and other related program matters. The visit was warmly received by the Head of the Department of Chemistry, UPM, Associate Professor Chm. Dr. Emilia Abd Malek, and the program coordinator, Associate Professor Dr. Shahrul Ainliah Alang Ahmad, along with the involved committee.

In the morning, a sharing session was held covering the curriculum structure for the Bachelor of Science in Chemistry with Honours, Bachelor of Industrial Chemistry with Honours, and Master of Analytical Chemistry (coursework), implementation of teaching and learning (PdP), program management, and training related to teaching, followed by a Q&A session and discussion. In the afternoon, a visit to the research, teaching laboratories, and facilities took place. The visit concluded at 4 PM with positive feedback received from UTM officials. It is hoped that the program sharing session can assist the Department of Chemistry, UTM, in improving program management.
