PULAU TIOMAN, 21 AUGUST 2024 – The Faculty of Science, UPM, as the main organizer of the International Climate Change Action @ Tioman 2024 Program (ICCA@Tioman 2024), held a meeting with several strategic partners at the Tioman Development Authority (TDA) meeting room. The meeting, which lasted for 3 hours from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, discussed the implementation plan to ensure that ICCA@Tioman 2024, which will be held in September, runs smoothly. The meeting aimed to coordinate the roles of each strategic partner who will assist in the success of the program. The meeting was attended by representatives from the Tioman Development Authority (TDA), Pulau Tioman Police Station, four members of the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA), the Department of Fisheries Malaysia, the Principal of SMK Tekek, and Reef Check Malaysia. The program was chaired by Associate Professor ChM. Dr. Norizah Abdul Rahman, assisted by Dr. Mohd Rashidi Abdull Manap. The ICCA@Tioman 2024 program is scheduled to take place from 26 to 27 September 2024, offering various interesting activities, including exhibitions by MMEA, the Department of Chemistry Malaysia, and the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, UPM, covering the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). Additionally, the program will also organize beach clean-up activities around Pulau Tioman as well as career forum sessions. The program aims to create a positive impact by raising awareness about the harmful effects of climate change and microplastic pollution on the local community and the role of all parties in addressing this global issue.
