PULAU TUBA, 11 December 2025 – The Faculty of Science, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) continues its commitment to enhancing rural education through the implementation of a STEM Project at SMK Langkawi Pulau Tuba. This initiative, conducted under the Projek Komuniti Madani@Pulau Tuba, aims to empower students and the local community through science and technology-based activities.

A total of 50 students from Form 1 and Form 2 participated in the programme, which emphasises a balanced STEM learning approach that integrates hands-on activities with strong theoretical understanding. This method enables students to grasp science and mathematics concepts more effectively while fostering active engagement and sustained interest in the subjects.

In addition to STEM activities, students received academic guidance through a mentor–mentee session conducted by trainee science educators from UPM. This engagement provides early exposure to the university learning environment, cultivating students' aspirations to further their studies in science-related fields as they progress to upper secondary levels.

The school expressed strong support for the project, recognising it as a valuable platform for strengthening STEM literacy among students in Pulau Tuba. Through continued collaboration between UPM and the local community, the programme is expected to create long-term impact in nurturing scientifically literate, confident and future-ready young minds.
