SERDANG, 18 May – The Physics Student Club, Department of Physics, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), organized the 11th edition of Physics Fusion Day (PFD XI), a program that brought together students from the department’s four major academic programs: Bachelor of Science (Physics) with Honours, Bachelor of Science (Physics) with Education, Bachelor of Science (Material Physics) with Honours, and Bachelor of Science (Instrumentation Physics) with Honours. Staff from the Department of Physics also participated in the three-day event held from 16 to 18 May 2025.

The main aim of the 11th Physics Fusion Day was to cultivate a proactive and productive mindset and physical well-being among members of the Department of Physics, fostering collaboration and the exchange of ideas while promoting a healthy lifestyle through participation in various sports activities. The event kicked off on 16 May 2025 at the UPM Sports Academy with an official opening ceremony officiated by the Head of the Physics Department, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Mustafa Awang Kechik, accompanied by Firdaus Al Hakim Mohd Idros, the Director of Physics Fusion Day XI. The opening speech emphasized the importance of co-curricular activities in developing well-rounded and high-quality graduates.
Immediately after, the atmosphere at the Sports Academy became lively with cheers and energy as the men’s, women’s, and mixed badminton tournaments began. The badminton tournament was won by the third-year students, showcasing their skill and determination. At the same time, a squash competition took place, divided into two divisions. Division 1 was won by Muhammad Fauzi Md Hairi, while Division 2 was won by Muhammad Nazreen Samuri.
On 17 May 2025, the program continued at the Kenanga Futsal Court, Tun Dr. Ismail College (KTDI), UPM, featuring two main sports: women’s netball and men’s futsal. Both events were held in a competitive yet harmonious environment, highlighting the students' talents and strong fighting spirit. The women’s netball tournament was won by third-year students, while men’s futsal was won by second-year students. The grand finale on 18 May 2025 took place at Padang Melati, KTDI UPM, beginning as early as 8:00 AM with a high-energy mass workout session called "Fizikrobik." This was followed by the much-anticipated marching parade featuring the four main contingents:
Red-Scorpius (Bachelor of Science in Material Physics with Honours)
Blue-Pegasus (Bachelor of Science in Instrumentation Physics with Honours)
Green-Cassiopeia (Bachelor of Science in Physics with Honour
Yellow-Hercules (Bachelor of Science in Physics with Education)
Creativity in costumes, slogans, and team spirit made the parade one of the most vibrant and festive segments of the event. The Best Marching Contingent was won by Cassiopeia, while Hercules won Best Mascot, and Scorpius won Best Tent Decoration.


The fun sports activities (sukaneka) delighted both students and spectators, with exciting games such as:
Coconut bowling
Group rope skipping
Water balloon bowling
Tug of war
Water rocket launch
Final results for the sukaneka:
1st Place: Pegasus
2nd Place: Hercules
3rd Place: Cassiopeia
4th Place: Scorpius
Following sukaneka, an aerodance competition was held, with Pegasus emerging as the winner. All contingents competed not only to win but also to demonstrate cooperation and enjoyment throughout the program. The event concluded with the Official Closing Ceremony at Dewan Sri Harmoni, KTDI UPM, where prizes and recognitions were awarded to the winners of each event.

In summary, the 11th Physics Fusion Day not only served as a platform to showcase athletic talent among students but also successfully met its objectives by encouraging active participation, sportsmanship, and collaboration among students and staff of the Physics Department. The program also highlighted the students' potential beyond academics, in leadership, event management, and character development.
