Physics Open Day 2026: UPM Connects Students to the World of Careers & Physics Research
Serdang, 23 January 2026 – Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), through the Department of Physics in collaboration with the UPM Physics Students’ Club (KMF), organised Physics Open Day 2026 (POD) at the Faculty of Science. The programme attracted 200 students from UPM Foundation Centre, Selangor Matriculation College, several secondary schools, and a primary school, with the aim of nurturing interest in physics through interactive learning and real-life applications, while introducing early exposure to physics-related careers and research.
Participants joined lab visits and hands-on activities, including nano-graphite demonstrations, AI-based face detection, virtual reality (VR) showcases, “Physics vs Myths†sessions, materials-physics investigations, superconducting magnetic levitation demonstrations, and an interactive quiz session (Putra Physics Mastery). The event also featured a final-year student research poster exhibition and competition, followed by afternoon talks on academic pathways, career opportunities, and the future direction of physics education.
Organisers highlighted that the “Real-Life Action†approach helps reduce the perception of physics as a difficult subject by making learning creative, engaging, and accessible. UPM emphasised that POD 2026 reflects its commitment to strengthening science culture from an early stage and inspiring students to pursue further studies in science and technology.
